I ordered one of these 2000lb winches from harbor freight a few days ago. But yesterday a friends 2500 warn just about didn't get me out of some mud. What do you guys think? Is anyone using one of these?

I've got a 2000 lb winch & at times it may not be enough, but I've also got a ****** block pully setup which doubles the pull of a winch & I carry a 30' yellow nylon tow strap with me .

 

I have the same winch on my Trailboss. I was able to pull a sp600 and 700 out of a mud hole at the same time. It bogged it down but was still able to pull. Without it they would not have gotten out.

 

Thanks guys, I was planning on getting a ****** block so hopfully it will be alright. Yesterday was definetly the worst I've been stuck and I wouldn't have went through it if I was alone. He has a JD trail buck (bombardier I think makes it), but we had to strap him to a tree and use the winch to get me out. If I quit spinning the tires his winch would stall out. Had me worried for a while, there was no way to get anything bigger back where we where.

I figure for $45 if it dosn't work for my bike I'll stick it on a trailer or somthing.

The winch will work fine and yes with the snatchblock it will double the pulling power but then you loose length. Just make sure you have extra straps or rope to help. Good luck!

 

I'm looking at the same winch for my '05 SP400 and wondering if it will work and mount as easy as the Warn winch. If anyone has some pointers please let me know.

 

Theres a mount for it on ebay that fits the 04s I think I saw one for the 05s also. I'll see if I can find the link.

I plan on making my own multi mount type deal so I can move it to the back also.

I have the same winch, but I payed $114.00 for it up here in Canada!! I have the Polaris brush guard on the front of my 02 500 HO and was wondering how to mount it to this guard?? You can't get just the mount from Polaris and I would like to make something myself and save the money for more mods. Does anyone out here have a design that works and looks GOOD?? In the snow yesterday, my 3000# winch stalled a few times. But as long as i kept spinning the tires it kept pulling.
I noticed that the winch needs a lot of power to actually pull 3000 pounds. Can my atv actually power that winch at full power? Or can it not?
