Does anyone have problems with their A-arm guards collecting mud and damaging the drive shafts and boots?
Especially if it was allowed to dry packed around the shafts.
What's better 3 sided or 2? front /bottom/ rear
Any brand recommendation, I purchased the Polaris plastic ones but they seem cheap.

Yes, the Polaris plastic guards are cheap. I think, no, I know I payed to much for them at the dealer. They collect mud and is hard to get them out. Once pulled a beer can out of one. Went through a big mud hole and was tring to get all the gunk out and there was the can. 2 of them rub the wheels and no way to adjust them to make the stop other than grinding and drilling the holes out bigger. Broke 1 not long after installing them. Broke another here while back. A few sheet metal screws and there still on.
I seen some the other day and forgot where I seen them,(was a web site) and they were metal and had a deal were you could flip down 1 side of the guard and clean out very fast and easy. Not cheap though.

I drew up a template with cardboard and had a friend make cut out made of Lexite. It is clear and stong and 1/4 in thick, like plexiglass. It fits inside the A-arm and protects from sticks coming up from the bottom. It may not be perfect, but its free and will add some protection.

if you do get A arm gaurds your going to have to cut a hole or two in the bottom of the guards so they will drain. if not your going to have the same problem with torn boots. still expermenting with mine. i got thermoplastic boots on the way for mine and im going to drill 1 or 2 3in holes in the bottom of A arm guards. i hope this works. id like to ride a little more than i work on it. If you look at my site the Stick Stoppers already have drain holes.
