Default Trailblazer trans wont engage in forward!

My TB's trans will not engage in forward. I can ride in reverse all day long but forward wont engage. Fluid is clear and full. I checked the adjustment of the actuating rod that connects the shifter with the trans and its fine. It grinds if I push hard against the shifter but it still wont engage and I dont want to risk bending or damaging the shifter. Any help is GREATLY apprecieated!

more than likely inside the gear case. could be a snap ring came off of the shaft, the shifting forks worn not letting it go into gear, or even a broken gear. check for worn and loose chains in there too.

So whats entailed in replacing the snap ring? Is this a very involved job? Im fairly mechanically inclined but I dont want to get too far into something I havent a clue about.

I've heard of problems with the shifter needing to be adjusted but this may have been on the older models. Have you checked the shifter movement at the trans?

I tried adjusting the rod that connects the shifter to the transmission. That didnt really do any good.

the only "hard" thing is getting the clutch off. buy the puller that threads in and itll come off. don't use a gear puller it can break the clutch. other than that theres not a lot to'em, gearcase is pretty simple inside. few gears, bearings, chain or 2, and shifting fork assembly.
puller wont cost that much, maybe 15 bucks or so.

Before taking the trany out be sure the bellcrank isnt wore(the aluminum piece the shiftrod hooks to on top the tranny)

If the bellcrank was worn wouldnt it not shift into reverse too? I can still shift into reverse perfectly fine. If I do have to tear into the trans would it be easier to remove it or can it be done on the bike? What will I have to remove to access the case for disassembly?

Thanks alot for everyones help!
