Trailblazer trans wont engage in forward!
#1
My TB's trans will not engage in forward. I can ride in reverse all day long but forward wont engage. Fluid is clear and full. I checked the adjustment of the actuating rod that connects the shifter with the trans and its fine. It grinds if I push hard against the shifter but it still wont engage and I dont want to risk bending or damaging the shifter. Any help is GREATLY apprecieated!

more than likely inside the gear case. could be a snap ring came off of the shaft, the shifting forks worn not letting it go into gear, or even a broken gear. check for worn and loose chains in there too.

I had the same problem with my tb when i got it but it worked fine in forward and wouldn't go in reverse
took trany apart snap ring let go so i held it in place with jbweld put 1500 miles on and still holding.make
sure you get crankcase sealer not silcone to put it back together.

So whats entailed in replacing the snap ring? Is this a very involved job? Im fairly mechanically inclined but I dont want to get too far into something I havent a clue about.

the only "hard" thing is getting the clutch off. buy the puller that threads in and itll come off. don't use a gear puller it can break the clutch. other than that theres not a lot to'em, gearcase is pretty simple inside. few gears, bearings, chain or 2, and shifting fork assembly.
puller wont cost that much, maybe 15 bucks or so.

If the bellcrank was worn wouldnt it not shift into reverse too? I can still shift into reverse perfectly fine. If I do have to tear into the trans would it be easier to remove it or can it be done on the bike? What will I have to remove to access the case for disassembly?
Thanks alot for everyones help!
