Default scrambler mud tires

I'm looking at getting a set of mud tires for my scrambler 500 4x4. I'm leaning toward 589s, 26x9x12s on the front and 25x12x10s on the back. What does everyone think? Is there a better tire for the mud? These won't be used for trail riding, just for playing in the mud.

By the way, I just bought my scrambler about a week ago and I wrecked it on Sunday. Hit a rock while climbing a hill and flipped it. Slid upside down all the way down the hill. Sure doesn't look new anymore. Still a little sick to my stomach everytime I think about it.

OUCH!
Sorry to hear the misfortune, I learned they only look new once, and thats the day you trailerem out of the dealership.
I too am looking for new tires and wheels for my 04 Scrammy 4x4, I'll be using mine for everything from mud to trail , rock, grass, you name it.
Im looking for a similar size, Idahospud showed me these from mud-throwers.com, check his bike out at http://geocities.com/northernidahospud/

I really like the looks of idahospud's scrambler, I like the fact that you can use the same size wheel on the front and back with the bear claws. I looked at the bear claws, but I read somewhere that the 589s are better in the mud, but then again, every article I read contradicts the one I read before it, so who knows. From what I can remember, it said the 589s do a better job of self cleaning. I think I'm going to stay with the stock size tires for trail riding, I would think the scarmber would have a tendency to tip when you're turning with those big tires. Are you worried about that at all?

i fully recommend the bear claw setup, especially on a 4x4 setup. i dont have 12 inch rims, but they work just as good!!!

It is recamended as a "hot tip" by ITP/Carlile to use the stock 489 Titian up front with the 589 mud tire in the rear.
Sounds good to me, they have a similar tread pattern and the smaller lighter front aids in steering.
This is for 2x4 application I believe.

Bear claws all the way! You won't regret it. Check out my pics. These tires do it all!

idk about the bear claws, from my experience, they had extremely bad performance in mud. my dad got some for his sp700, and he hated them. keep in mind most of us have 589's, while i have gators with mudlites. the setup i have does good in the mud, without a large loss of power.
