Cracked case
#1
My brother has a Scrambler 500 & the same thing happened to him Labor Day weekend. He was jumping a gravel hill & his chain popped off & oil all over. He cracked his case. He pulled everything all apart & Polaris told him if he wanted to claim it under warranty, he had to put it all back together & bring it in. He said screw it & order the parts & fixed it himself. He fixed the one side & saw the other side has a hairline crack too!! If anyone wants to talk cheap parts on Polaris's---I can give you all the info on what I have replaced on my Trailblazer in the 3 months I've had it!!!!

I got my TB beginning of June. The first repair was my fault...a branch came down & full-throtled me into a tree---broken A-arm. Brakes wore out after only a few full days of riding--back & then front. Replaced them with factor brakes. My chain guard started making a lot of noise (yes, I lube the chain before & after every ride), after further investigation...the factory chain & master link is worthless. My front sproket had a semi-broken tooth also. But, that chain & sproket were junk from the mfgr. Ordered a Sidewinder chain & sprokets. The stainless steel chain from Sidewinder was only $30 more than a Polaris replacement one. I think it's a great value!!
After 2 weekends of riding--the front and rear breaks already need to be replaced. AND the rotors!!! Ordered replacement front & back from DennisKirk.
Don't get me wrong at all. I know I payed very low $$$ for my TB (It cost the same as my son's TRX90). I can deal with replacing small inexpensive parts----just not with other cheap Polaris parts.
Any dealers/web sites anyone suggests would be great for mod's on Polaris quads.
PS
We are spose to get a call when the Scrambler 50's come in for my 5 yr old!! She can't wait!! I just hope we don't run into the same problems with her's as mine---with a 50, we'll have to go with mfgr parts. Any other info would be great!!

I have had to change the rear brakes on my wife trail boss already, (bought in April). I would never replace them with factory pads. I am debating about mailing them back to Polaris and telling them were to stick them. I get replacements from Shadetree Outdoors. They are in Middlefield, OH. You can call them at 1-888-Shadetree. Being in Ohio, you will almost always get everything you order from them the next day. They also have a technical help line if you have any questions about their products. I have had some problems with the chain and master link also. I replaced the master link myself and it seems to be better. Another item Polaris may get back in the mail
. I'm taking the Tboss down to Monday Creek again on October 7-8. Hopefully I won't have any problems with it. I agree with you that this stuff is small and I got a good price on the quad, but its still fustrating.

We drive out to Shadetree for parts. They are only 30-40 minutes from us! They have good deals on helmets & other stuff too. My husband got a brand new pair of Bieffe boot for $70. I got my helmet for $60 (it's not Snell certified though). We go down to Wayne every weekend now. It's a 3 1/2 hr drive for us, but well worth it!!! We pulled our camper down to William's last weekend & payed to keep it there for the rest of the riding season (Dec 15th). We haven't made it down to Dorr Run yet. We are taking the gas tanks along & plan on doing that Saturday.
My husband went to Polaris today to pick up my rotors, they said they redesigned the 2001 models. They have holes in the rotors to allow for more air movement to keep them cooler and have improved the brake pads to be 5x's better than the 2000 models. He said next time we need to order any brake parts, he would write it up as a 20001 model & get us those replacements. Consider that next time you visit the dealer!!!

We drove to Shadetree last May for their open house. We spent about $300 on helments and other stuff, but got some great deals. How much did Williams charge you to park the camper there for an extended stay? We thought about getting a camper and leaving it down there. You definetly need to do the Dorr Run. It has some of the best trails of all of Monday Creek. You can do it without filling up. We made a night run of it once and didn't need to even go to reserve. Download a map of the Dorr Run loop. It's much more confusing than the other trails. I don't like getting many parts from the local dealer (in Toledo). Its like talking to dumb and dumber in there.

You must be dealing with dan at south east (good guy)just doing his job.as far as 5x better I'LL BE THE JUDGE OF THAT.The front I haven't had to many problems with.I'm on my 3rd set of HD oem's but this time I had a buudy harden the stock rotors for me they seem to be working great after about 40 hours and lots of pad left.but they are not the vented one those I'm not shur about! You see the holes pick up dirt and mud and hold on to it this in turn tears the pad up leaving groves to hold more dirt wich score the rotors that hold more dirt.Do you see where I'm going with this.thats why your 2nd set only lasted a week or so.you must replasthe rotor at the same time if there is any sings of scoring.Ben there done that!! trust me.now the rear on the other hand is vented and after going thought 3 set of HD oem's with and with out roters at 50 bucks a pop this got out of hand. so with new roter I went with EBC sever dutys. wrong move they score the stock roters bad and like right now and your back to square one with the dirt thing.Out of the 3 sets I tryed I was getting about 10 hours out of them.still not any good ya a littel cheaped 25-30 bucks+ roter each time.so I had the rear roter harded and went with EBC full metalics.ben haveing good luck so far.about 50 hours no scoring on the roter good a mount of pad left still. If it is Dan your talking to? He knows me all to well!! I'm hell on parts their's not a week that goe's by I'm not their getting something. This week it's front struts!! BLOW OUT!!! As far as the snake chain I WOULDN"T P#@S ON THE BEST SIDE OF THEIR PRODUCS THEY SUCK.raed my post on them you'll be glad you did.I'm working on some chain & sprocket combos now to see how they work out.

We've run all over New Straightsville & Main Corridore. We've gone through Snake Hollow. That's the farthest we've made it due to untimely breakdown of older quads/or the gas guzzlers of the bunch!!!
We were told $500 for the WHOLE season at Williams (we paid a fraction of that). Of course the season is nearing the end, next year it may be more $$$. We just got our season trail permits last weekend. We plan on going down there every weekend or so till the end!! Just filled up a huge propane tank so we have plenty of heat in the camper!!!
What is so bad about Sidewinder chains???
