I know this has been asked before but I could not find it on the forum. Are the stock sprockets 13/34 on a 96 400L sport??

my rocky mountain atv catalogue listed the sprocket as 13-34. whats the difference between 12-34 and 13-34 lower or taller gearing.

you better look at your rockymountain book again, they list the 96 sport as running 12/34 as stock gearing.the 12t front will give you more low end, going down 1 tooth in the front is like adding 3 in the back i think..

Yeah going up one in the front will give you a higher top end and be the same as dropping 3 or 4 teeth in the back. I cant remember whether its 3 or 4. But I couldnt find any of my magazines. 12-34 is what it says?

actually was looking at the 400l. its listed as 13-34 96-99 express two. why would these quads have higher gearing?

also being a woods rider would there be any benefit in changing my gear ratio to 13-38 for a lower ration and abit more acceleration?

not meing to steal your post either oghma.
