Default Can you swap a 400 2 stroke in place of a 250 2 stroke?

My wife and I bought two, 2003 Trailblazer 250 2 strokes last year. Over all we are happy with them, but I'd like more power out of mine. I like 2 strokes, so I'm thinking about swapping a 400 into mine.

Anyone know if a 400 will "bolt in" in place of the 250? I realize that I'll have to get all the cooling equipment. I've seen a few 400's on ebay, but didn't want to get them if this will be a big headache.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

better off trading up to a 400 if thats what you want. or building the 250 to have more hp. about the only thing that is the same between the 2 would be the frame, plastic, drive line. you would have to swap much more than just the motor.

I have done the swap on mine once before an the can be done. I would check with a few mods for it first. Mine mods work really good an I know that AZ bad boyzz have strokers that are very fast. But if really want the 400 then would get find a whole machine. But if determend then can do the swap. I don't think you would have to change the drive line.

Im getting ready to put my 400 engine in a 250 frame. Just by eyeballing it, the motor mounts seem to be the same except for the one behind the clutch cover. But it bolted on so... ??? Stay tuned

The 250's can be moded to beat 400's. Soo many different things to do to them. It would be way cheaper to mod the 250 and you will also keep the weight down.

A 250 can be done up to eat a modded 400? It may be so, but I have a hard time believing it. Don't get me wrong I would like to get a 250 and stroke it out, but I don't fore see it taking care of a properly done 400.

You have to have just a little more than just a trail mod set-up on a 400 to beat
the reed converted 250s. My brother has a trail mod set-up on his 400 and had
to go to a smaller rear sprocket just to stay ahead of my 250.

I'm not trying to start an arguement, and I'm not saying the 250's can't be made to be wicked fast. My comment before was more of a question then anything. I assume 1fast is Dennis? So this question is directed at him...does your 12mm 250 beat your 7mm 400? I am in the begining stages of building my 99 and want to know if you think I'll be happier with a 12mm250 or a 7mm400. Also what other mods are done to the 400 compared to other mods to the 250? Another question I've been wanting to ask 1fast, have you had or do you expect any reliablity problems with your 12mm and with stroking in general? I could go on with questions forever, but we are off track of what shepherdblake is asking... I agree with jeffro206 trade up to the 400 or mod the 250. Should be less headaches this way I would think, just my opinion.
