Aftermarket oil?? what to use where?

I know there was a post about this in the past.. but for somereason I can't find it..
Anyway.. What oil should one use in there machine??
I am wanting to change all fluid in everything.. Maybe someone has a link to that post that tells what oil to use where??

I know that about synthetics.. there was a thread talking about amsoil and the different weights they use in the different parts of the 4 wheeler..
I have a hard time paying 2x the price for oil that is the same as something else..

ah found the thread.. here is what the list is..
Engine oil:
-Amsoil 0W-40 4 stroke syn. oil
-Mobil 1 0W-40 syn oil "Eurpoean Car formula"
Oil filter:
NAPA Gold #1358 (500 HO motor)
Hubs:
-Mobil 1 syn ATF
-ATF Type F
Front gearcase:
-Synthetic 80W-90 gear oil (marine grade works very well)
Transmission:
-Amsoil Series 2000 Syn. Chaincase lube
-Klotz Snomobile Chain Case Syn. Lube
And the Coolant is mixed at 60/40

I bought it right from their website. I got 2 qts of their 0W-40 4 stoke oil, 2 bottles of chaincase lube, and an oil filter for $40 including shipping. The snowmobile shop near me use to carry the 0W-40 but stopped.

I use amsoil all the way. It is about the same price as polaris oil and i would rather use a product from a comapny that just makes oil then a other product. Not saying polaris oil isnt good.

why is it everyone sees the need to use other than the recommended oil? 5.99 qt for engine, 7.70 for filter (usa made dont know where somone saw tawain), 9.99 for 1 qt agl, 3.49 for hub fluid, and gee, ive ive seen 1 engine lockup from napa model # pos filter and 1 wix model # pos filter, other brands of oil cam problems, hub problems, internal chain problems on the trans, etc, etc, etc.... sure the angle drive fluid is 80-90 no arguements there , but why risk the major parts for a few cents???? then you b!tch because something doesn't last or fails? get real, i'm with polaristheonlywayout, just my .02 here tho

This is only my opinion, but I believe Amsoil is far superior to the Polaris fluids. Their is a guy on this site that used the Polaris 0W-40 and had an oil analysis done at 50 and the lab recommended that he not use the oil after 50 hours because the oil broke down so much and it looked like dirty water. I use the Amsoil 0W-40 and have changed mine at 70 hours and it looks very clean. Elkbow uses the Polaris fluid for his rear diff and he says that the fluid is dirty after one ride. I use the Amsoil Serve Gear 75W-90 and I have 700 miles on my change and it is lighty discolored from when I put it in. All I use in my fourwheeler is Amsoil synthetics and I will never change. Amsoil is probably a little cheaper or the same price as the Polaris fluids and Amsoil was the first to start making synthetics in 1971. If you choose Amsoil, spend $20 dollars and get the preferred customer membership and you get about 25% off on their products. I get the 0W-40 for $5.10 a quart and 80-90 for $9 a quart, which you can change your diff oil about six times, so thats a little over $2 a change. The Series 2000 Chaincase for transmission is about $4 for 12oz and you need 15oz for tranny, so that's about $5 for a change. I use the #5 light shock therapy for hilliard clutch and that's like $9 a quart, about $2 a change. I can change all fluids and filter for about $30 to $35 including shipping and handling. You spend so much money on a machine, why wouldn't you put the very best fluid in it.
