Hpd race mod 400 ---wide open problems
#11
Isn't the brass pin the overflow tube? if it was a newer style would it have anything in the bowl that is brass? my 39mm is 3 years old, do you think it has this pin?Lastly do you think this could be the problem?

the over flow tube is there to this pin is about 1/2" long and yes it could be a problem it stops the float from dropping all the way down just pull your bowl off and see if you have that little pin

I don't have the brass pin. I talked with HPD and it tures out that I don't have it .I put a bigger main jet and that helped alittle but, i think the problem is the needle and seat(fuel shut off). I cann't fix it because the seat is wore out and it is pressed in, any ideas?? I checked everything on the scram and the only thing I can figure is that the float level not being right because of the needle and seat is causing me these problems. If the float is to high it just leaks fuel everywhere and it runs too rich on the bottom. If the float is too high it dosen't get enough fuel on top. I can not get it right . is there anyone who can fix this?? who works on these carbs?? anyone have one for sale?
thanks
Matt

i heard the same thing about the needle and seat but u might be able to fix with just a needle i thought mine was bad to it turned out to be the float they are very touchy when it comes to setting them. if you have a vacum pump gauge you could test the needle just flip it upside down it should hold air

hpd has a needle and seat kit. They are easy to replace, just use an ez out to get the old seat out and tap the new one in with a hammer. I did it in my pwk no problems. You also need a different needle and seat to run a fuel pump.
