2005 PHOENIX Whoops!
#1
Was riding my 05 Phoenix when I took a mud puddle that was a lot deeper than I thought, water over the front fenders & taken into the airbox (not bad)
BUT, drive belt started slipping and quad became DOA, had to get pulled out of the trails. Anyhow I get it home and decide to take off the cover and about a 1/2 gallon of pure mud falls out, an hour cleaning inside the case the drive belt is perfect and (I have completly cleaned out the area.) Questions:
Was any pernament damage done?
How did the mud get in there? So fast? accumulated from all the puddles?
Should I change the drivebelt anyway?
much thanks

I don't have a phoenix but I would say that if you spend a good amount of time cleaning the bike inside and out and get all the mud out of cover and make sure your belt is clean you should be ok. just clean it and put it back together then do a test ride to see if the belt slips or not.
by the way how do you like the phoenix? got some ***** or not? oh and welcome to the forums. hurry up and get a gallery started so we can see pics of the phoenix. if you don't know how just go to the my page tab above and upload photos from your computer to the forum. it's that easy. if you don't have a scanner you can take a digital camera up to like wallgreens, meijer etc. and have them downloaded onto a cd.

Well I had a string of problems in the beginning but now that all that has been worked out (under warantee) it is a blast to ride every time. This is my first quad and the only other one I have ridden is a trail boss which is nice but it has a BIG CAR feel compared to the sporty Phoenix. When riding through trails with sharp turns I can hands down out run the Trail Boss but I am taken in a straight line.
AND
The "flat" back tires have again hands down taken the TB in the snow and the weight is perfect to man handle it when you have too.
I will post pics shortly, have to take some

The belt housing got mud in it because the belt housing air intake is in the front of the quad. This can happen to any belt driven atv. No perminant damage can happen if you wash everything out.

There is also an air intake on the right side (just over the footbreake) that is connected to the oil cooling system I think (correct me if Im worng). It is much lower then the air intake in the front. Is it possible to extendt the intake in some way so you get it in the same hight as the one in front?

Hey guys.
I tried to post some pics of my new phoenix a couple of days ago, but they still haven't appeared, page status = pending approval. how long does it normally take?
Great choice Bansai I love my phoenix ( 2 weeks old ), it climbs hills like a mountain goat, mainly because of the CVT which was the only thing I was wary of when I bought it & now I love it. No problems to report yet but I'll be careful in the mud now.

Good Luck with yours. As I said before all the problems were fixed @ no charge and it got the second and third looking over. I am very happy with it (have had it since Jan) I agree with the "hill climb" this thing gives a nice punch and I do not know if you have the screw coming out of the accelerator?? I was told to remove this when its broken in, its a throttle limiter. well I did this past weekend and it has a very nice kick when floored.
I am working on covering the belt drive intake so I can avoid some water intake, I know this happened because I was playing submarine but my trails now are saturated; I guess slowing down would be the best thing and watch the level of the water.

Yes, If you look from above the handle bars to the right of the brake fluid cap you (MIGHT) have a throttle limiter screw, it has two locking nuts, ??? If you remove this screw the throttle can be floored resulting in a nice powerband kick, its as clear as day (the screw is a good 2 inches long) If you dont see it I will take a close up shot of mine and post it, I took the screw out and cut it since I didn't want it to be open.
