I have an 04 Bombardier DS650. I have never ridden the Predator, but have seen a few run. I am interested in the 05 Troy Lee edition. I like the fact that it has reverse, rezzie shocks, and the way it sits, but having never ridden it I wonder about the power compared to my DS. I know the DS has more displacement but also more weight. I am thinking about getting into racing and think the Pred sits good for it. Also I want to know about mods for the Pred are the expensive compared to the DS.
Anyone with info especially those with experience on the Pred and the DS please give some feedback. I would like pros and cons tempered with the truth. How does the Pred handle for track conditions? How is the power band? handling? and any other stuff I should know. I appreciate any help, thanks,

My cousin has an 01 DS and i have ridden it . i think for racing the predator would be a lot better, because of weight, handling, and the power (not that the bomb lacks it, the pred just hits harder). well if your going to race gncc type stuff, than i think that if would be a great quad. if you are going to race track, eh thats another story.that doesnt mean its BAD, but there are better race quads.ok, from what i have read (not out of first hand expierience), a YFZ is a better choice for track racing, but i have seen predators beat them. i hate to say that yamahs are better,i hate yamahas. i truely dont like them, but i will admit it is a better track quad. but to get back to your question, the predator handles great, the power is GREAT on the bottom and pulls the whole way through, except it boggs when you hit 5th because the gear is a too tall. RAJ said that if you get a CDI box will totally change the power curve and it will scream. It is a great quad, but i really wouldnt know if it suits you. good luck!

The Pred is a great quad. I do alot of Dirt Drags. When it comes to mods they are about the same price as any other 4 stroke. I went from a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke, mods on a 2 stroke are alot cheaper and you will get more hp out of the mod. I would say ride one and see for your self. I will say you will not get any better stock suspension then the Pred. I think it is a power house from the factory. I hope this helps.

 

cain73 I have both I like the Predator for the track and tight trails the DS for the sand and long rides. Power wise about the same for me they just make it different way. for mods check out Rath racing , HPD , Nicholas Cycle
