Hello all,
I need a favor if possible, I have bought a new 800 Sportsman and it has been shipped to me here in Germany. It is not scheduled to arrive until june 3rd and I have to do a few mods to it to make it street legal and ride, I want to get ahead of the game to make sure I can get it on the road as soon as it gets here. I want to know if the brake lights work when you step on the foot brake? I know they work with the hand brake but do they work when you step on the foot brake only? Also what is the diameter of the handlebars, i found some switches online to run the blinkers and horn but I need the diam. of the handlebars to order the switches. Does anyone have any mirrors attached? what type are they, I have seen the type polaris has online but I am not sure if they will fit the 800 or not. Thanks in advance for anyhelp that you can provide.
Jef

The machine will light up the rear red lights brighter when you use the handlebar brake. They are on at all times, but when hitting the handlebar lever, which controls both front and rear brakes at the same time, will brighten the rear brakes to show you are braking. The foot brake, which is rear only, does not brighten the rear lights.
Then handlebars are the standard 7/8" bars....
Not sure where you can get the kits from, but I'm sure you can use several different units out there. Baja Designs may have something that will work as they make a ton of kits to make dirt bikes street legal dual-sports.
