It could be you clutch kit most of them will decrease topend speed. The only kit I found that don't affect topend is a Heel clicker.

I would guess 60 or maybe a little more for the 600. I'm not for sure how fast my 700 goes because it goes on around past 60 and I don't have a gps I would guess upper 60's but I'm not for sure. I plan on getting a gps and checking it. Why would the dealer tell you to sell it? Are you happy with it?

Not happy with it at all. I had a 96 / 500 sportsman that would pull steady anytime at 60 mph. In any conditions.
i bought a 600 to go faster i thought .
The dealer put new pistons and rings in november it was fine for 2 mths then here i am again. Warrenty work
The engine used up the oil after a 176 km ride and they rebuilt but no explaination as to WHERE did oil go if there are no leaks?
There was 500 MILES on it at the time now i am at 1000 if that and same issue again. NO power.
I guess the TWIN wasn't the way out.

That is a very weird situation because the 600's have been bulletproof. My brother inlaw has 1900mi on his and has not had 1 problem with it. His will do about 64-66mph gps. Maybe it is your dealer? And again did this powerloss happen before or after the clutch kit. If the dealer is saying to sell it then it sounds like he is out for your money.

well it was right away i felt my old 500 had more *****.
So the dealer says the way to juice her up is add the kits.
We did. The bike has had alot of issues.
Front struts right side gone.Overheating constantly.
Inconsistant running one day she rocks the next day or ever same day runs lousy pops and sputters.
I am just lookin for the best i am really hard on toys.
And my sons bike PREdator 90 2004 now needs a piston and rings? Found that out today!

does your buddys machine have any mods?
If he does can you suggest setup for it?
Thanks again

My 2004 700 Carbed would do 65mph on the speedo on pavement. Now, I am guessing the differences I have seen on GPS, maybe 60-62 actual? I think you are in the ballpark with supposed to being at 60-63. Maybe like Sportsman70003 said, it could be your clutch. Talk to http://www.rittercycle.com/. Maybe they can help you figure out the clutch, or any clutch expert at that...
