Wayne National Forest...Delayed Opening
If any of you Ohio Riders have gotten this in the mail, then you know, but for those who haven't...the forest's normal opening date of April 15th is being delayed to make repairs on the trail....they say that the trails are severly damaged from the winter flooding and rainfall down there. Here is what the message says exactly:
"The Wayne National Forest, Athens Ranger District and Marietta Unit, are delaying the opening of the off-road vehicle (ORV), horse and mountain bike trails by several weeks (early to mid summer) to repair severe damage from the winter floods and rains. We made this decision because of washed out bridge supports, slips and slides, heavy erosion and trail surface damage that may endanger trail users and the natural resources."
"The affected trail systems are the Main Corridor, Dorr Run and Long Ridge ORV trails. Hiking is the only allowable activity on any of the trails until repairs are completed."
This Really Stinks!!!
I was really looking forward to this weekend.
But, oh well. What can you do.
