I just returned from the wildest night of entertainment ever. It was the Valvoline Motocross event at the Olympic Stadium here in Montreal. Motorcross, buggies and best of all ATV's!!! 55,000 spectators...

They hauled in 450 truck loads of dirt to make an amazing motodross track with jumps, whoops and tons of aweful corners. These quads were fast and furious. A Banshee took the win by a longshot.

Just thought I would share my experience with ya' all... Get's me wantin' to start racing!

I just returned from my best atv experience ever! It was called 4 Wheeling for Easter Seals. The event was held in Mattawa Ontario. On the Ontario Federation of ATV (OFATV) club trails. ATV riders generated over ten thousand dollars to help children with physical disabilities. This was the first ever, event of this kind (in Ontario anyway) and I was happy to be part of it.

Where are those trails? Sudbury area? I thought Sudbury had the only provincial trails. These are the same trails as the OFSC (Onterio Federation of Snowmobile Clubs). 'course, they are also the same trails used by yesteryears (or current, be carefull) logging trucks. Oh, and don't forget the hydro lines! I LOVE HYDRO LINES!

Do you have to buy a permit yet? I know where I ride SSM/Wawa/Duebralville there are no permits YET. I would be willing to pay a small fee to help pay for bridges (so we can get from town to town) and trail maintenance (cut summer trail AROUND mud holes). But they are doing most of this in the name of sledding anyhow. I get the $120 (Cdn funds) sled permit every year so I don't feel too bad about usuing the trails in the summer too.
Just last week got back from 475 MILE run through Northern Onterio in 4 days. DON"T PASS GAS!

Think Snow Eh!

Ox, Mattawa is about an hour drive east of North Bay, near the Quebec border. It is the birthplace of the OFATV. They have developed a multi-use trail system for hiker's mountain bikes and ATV's. Part of it runs on OFSC trail. For more info check out the website http://www.ofatv.org/

Ox- where did you ride on that trip, what part of Ontario? Did you go with an outfitter or tour guy? We went on one in the spring up to Spanish and also had a great time. We are sending in our deposits for next year as Bryan (Come Play In The Snow Tours ) is already getting booked up. Pete

Yeah, I heard-tell come play in the snow was running up through that way this summer with atv's. We start just a little north/east of SSM and head north. No, never been with guide, although would have been good the first time (down the Searchmont trail), but that's a long story. But that was on sleds. I get along with Old Man Winter much better that Mother Natures spring/summer Black Flies. Those buggers will carry you away if you let them!
If you used a guide down below, you better get one for up there for that trail. You'll see next year if you go with him.
If you stay at 1/2 Way Haven it isn't too bad, otherwise it is a 175 mile trip between towns/gas. We just made that in 9 1/2 hours. Carry gas if going all the way through! OH; and the key saying in North Onterio - "Don't pass gas".
Thinking about running from Sudbury to Timmins area next year. That won't be quite as rough of terrain! But maybe more mud. We did 3 trips this year. Hanging up my wheels (well, actually up for sale) for the season. Putting deeper track on the sled. That area usually gets hit with 2-3 feet of snow in a couple of days in Dec. I like to be the first one down them to break it open! It is great country. Just need to respect it. It has treated me well. But Be Prepared!
Any questions on this area you can e-mail me at mpminc@bright.net.

Think Snow Eh!

Hey RobCulp!!
You live right near me. I live 10 mins. west of Hamilton, it's good to see people that live near me here on atvconection. Got any good trails there in Cayuga??...it's great around here, lots of riding space.

ATV MAN
We've got some trails and an abandoned railway line that we ride. The only problem I find is we have to ride a lot of gravel roads to get in between the trails. I work in Flamboro not too far from you.

Well behind my property their used to be a rail road but they took it out and now use it as a walking trail and people get mad if you take motorized vehicles on it...you might have heard of it...it's called the RAIL TRAIL, it runs from Hamilton to Brantford.
