I am trying to find out info on the old cyclone. Does anyone remember any details about it? I have been told it was one of the fastest polaris models ever. True?

The Polaris Cyclone was the quickest and fastest 250 ATV they ever produced . The engine is basisly the same as the current 250's with the exception of a more advanced port timing . Polaris also sent them with bigger carburetors than what is currently on the 250's . The exhaust system was a more performance oriented than current 250's have . The clutch engagement and shiftout speed were about 1000 rpm's higher than current models .

The brakes were not the best, and there was no electic start . It was one of Polaris's first ATV models .

At the time these quads were sold Honda dealers had 250R's in the show rooms . The Cyclone was Polaris's sport model . It was really no comparison to the Honda as we all know .

The same basic engine with detuned porting , exhaust , carburetion and clutching is what is in a Trailblazer is . With the improvements in braking and the addition of electric starting . The frame and plastic are different aswell .

The Trailblazer and the Cyclone both have the same hop up potential as far as horsepower , the trialblazer has better brakes . The Cyclone just came out of the factory in a higher state of tune .

The new 400's and 500's are much better than the Cyclones . They are quicker, faster , and have better brakes and are all in all much better machines .

Please excuse the long post

Thanks for the post Rick. I just installed your stage 1 kit on my 99 TBoss. Runs like a striped ape. I will be calling tomorrow to order a pipe for my 00 scrambler 400.

I have a Cyclone for sale or trade for something not so quick, in up-state New York... I got it for my kids, it's way to much for them. e-mail me if anyone is interested.

While on my holidays I saw a Polaris Cyclone (I think) 3 wheeler! Definitely a Polaris though.

It ran great, but he had brake problems and went to get them fixed. The parts were more expensive then the whole machine!

It was fast too.
