explorer 40 4*4 question?
#1
Was wondering, my friend has this machine, its a 1996 and is looking to buy my 2*8*12 and 26*12*12 tires, he is wondering if they will fit on his machine before he buys them off of me.
What are the stock size of the Explorer tires anyway? and will my tires fit on his rims.
Thanks

stock front are 25x8x12 those tires should fit as long as the rim diameter isthe same rim width isn't as much of a deal but the closer the better...there is a possibility that they may rub a little when turning with the suspension partially compressed

the rears could either be 25x 12 or 25x 11 however the rear rims are only 10 or eleven inches tall i cant quite remember but in know that they are not twelve inches tall...best thing to do when putting tires on that are a different size than stock. is to get new rims as well...a wider front tire on the stock rim has the possibility of rubbing on the tie rod end. where as when a rim with an offset is bought no rubbing should occur

tire should fit on the rim but might rub on the bike not sure as i have not seen any older bikes with bigger tires. as far as my last post i ment the rear tires are 25x11x10 but the rims are still only 10'

i have a 95 explorer with 26x10x12 on the front and 26x12x12 on the back..no problems with the rear but i put a 1 inch lift kit in the front...i had a two inch lift kit but it wrecked to many aaxles so i cut the spacers in half to equal one ionsh...no rubbing any more and no broken axles it also fits 27 inch vampires too
