Default SCRAMBLER 500 - New Carb Trouble

Hello everyone. I decided to put in a Mikuni 42mm carb on my Scrambler 500. It runs great when its moving. But when it is still and I give it throttle it almost seems like the throttle is sticking. The RPM's need about 15 seconds to come back down on their own. Sometimes when it's stuck on high RPM and I pop the throttle a bit it comes down quicker..... Does this sound like it could be a jetting problem. I took it apart and the cable does not stick or hold up anywhere. Any help would be great... thank you all

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

Sounds more like an idle setting or air leak.

that 42mm mikuni, is it a flatside? or a standard CV type? if CV, what is it off of?

It is a CV. It's not off of anything its brand new.. The guys at polaris were fighting for a long time to find an idle jet for it and they said they were "pretty sure" they had found the correct one.. Does this sound like it could be jetting or is the carb itself messed up?... thanks

i agree with FTW,,, it could be an air leak,,,you might make sure your intake and airbox boots are tight.

also, did you try messing with the choke while this happens? what effect do you get?

yes its funny you mention the choke....as the idle is sticking high, as I pull the choke out it calms the rpm's back down....what do you think?
