Brass? You may have too much brass already, Bill! (Sorry; I'm weak--couldn't resist!)

Yeah, thought I'd sneak a peak. 1,300, that's pretty good by the sounds of things. I decided I had better look at mine, after hearing all these guys with only 200-500 miles on their's, and they still look great. Didn't actually measure them, but I'm sure they're fine. By the sounds of things, the guys who do the most mud riding are having the break troubles. I don't do a lot of that, and rely on ebs most of the time to slow me down. I use 4 low a lot too, so I'm sure that helps the breaks quite a bit.

Anyway, thanks for the note. Hope you have good luck with the brass ones. Did Bill C. ever try those yet??? If not, maybe they would be worth a look for him, who knows.

Oh hey, I almost forgot you used to have an AC. Did you ever change the breaks on it at all? How many miles were on it?

Have a good one!

Mike

Cowboy, he didn't have his very long. No brakes needed. If it helps your question any, I've been on this forum since the early summer of 1998 and I haven't ever heard any AC owner telling of changing brakes. Seems odd. I know mine has like 1550 miles now and the brakes are fine. AC must do a hell of a job in that category.

Im also going to be calling for the rear brass brakes.Im sick and tired of replacing them so soon.In fact,im calling now.

Alls I got was the guys recorder,I'll call back later.

ATVing,I had to be the guinee pig for the spring on the Xplorer, now it's time for someone else to do it with the Sportsman.Call Rick Ritter and ask him what color spring he recommends,im betting for 25 dollars, your going to love the results, and the mod is SO simple. What have you got to lose?

I got the green one from AAEN, and I love it, especially after the 27" claws were put on. Made a big difference when spinning that heavy rubber.

Oh, forgot to mention, 2600 miles on my 00 SP 500 and original brakes. Wondering myself if a better aftermarket set of pads would be the right way to go. Still got plenty of braking, from using the engine brake has been a god-send, and very handy as well.

Swac1:
How do you like your 'Claws? I'm going to be purchasing a set of the Bi/Tri 27" combo here in the next few days, I hope-soon as the money comes through.

I absolutely am impressed with the 27" claws, I wanted to try them out in snow, but got them after the snow melted. These puppies dig, I mean really dig. And I'll tell you right now, better plan on getting dirty, I mean really dirty. I need to find a better set of mud guards or fender flares, cause after going through a little water or mud, and speeding up, its all over you. I have a set (4) 6" wide rubber tire-material stuff like on the top of a snow plow but have not put them on yet. Still have to fix a cracked floor board from last winter that cracked in very cold weather when I banged my foot against it. I am not happy with this "nylon" material they make the flares, or floorboards out of. They should think of something that is more flexible for the next wave of quads.
