700 EFI Owners......Read this!!!
#1
I own 05 700EFI with about 1400 miles on it. About a month ago I had the check engine light come on after I had refueled my quad. I filled it up a little more than I usually do, so I thought that may have tripped the check engine light. I checked my stored codes and came up with 41 which is short circuit to ground on air temp sensor and 46 which is a fault in the T-Bap sensor(Barometric pressure sensor, sensor is screwed into the top of throttle body right in front of air box). I disconnected the battery and unplugged the sensor and plugged back in and reconnected the battery and haven't had a problem in a month. Check engine light came on last Friday with a code of 41 again. I started to check all my grounds and seemed to be fine. I unplugged the T-Bap sensor again and noticed that my ground wire(#1 Pin) going into plug was almost all the way cut through and the #2 Pin wire had been frayed showing an exposed wire. It appears to that the plug wasn't routed correctly and was routed underneath the throttle body and then up on the right side of the crankcase breather line and then up to the sensor, the way it was routed the wires were tight and very close to the breather hose and rubbed on the heat shielding tape on the breather hose which caused the problem. It looks to me that they should have been routed above the throttle body and then to sensor. If you take a look you will see what im talking about if yours was routed like mine. The break in the ground wire was right where it went into the sealed plug, so there was no say to splice the wires together. I would take a look at your bikes, might save you a little heartache. Mine is at the dealer right now.
