Default Water in Recoil Housing

I was out mudding yesterday with my Sportsman, sporting some new Mud Lites, and it was a really great time. Anyways, as we were taking a short break, I noticed that my recoil handle had popped off and the rope was wet. Anyways, I put it back the way it's supposed to be, and rode it home. I pulled the recoil drain plug, hooked the rope in the rear rack, blew some air in there to get the water out, and then let it sit overnight. It's back together now, but I'm just curious if that water could have gotten into the case from there, or if that is not an issue. I'm going to change the oil anyways, but just wanted to see if anyone has had this problem before. Thanks for any feedback, guys.

You won't get any water into your engine oil from the recoil housing. I do wonder how it is going to get enough air movement to dry out over normal running though.....

In addition to the drain plug there is a plug on the top of the housing. So I was able to pull both of them and take my air compresser and I blew the he!! out of that housing, then let it sit overnight, and then blew it all out again today after work. I didn't feel any water coming out and the rope was all dried out so I threw it all back together. So it has to be pretty dry in there by now.
