Oh man touchy issue. I have raced gregsims on his SP500. Both of us have 27 inch mud bugs. He has ITP Magnums and I have ITP steel, so I have some extra baggage. Over many races we concluded that the machines are pretty dead equal. The winner was determined by who got the initial jump off the line. After that was determined, we were always within a foot of each other the whole way out. Hope this helps.

If we can find some place where that is legal then I will be happy to.

What would it really prove? is it really going to make one better than the other if one beats the others in a straight line drag race? It is fun to race friends , but it really proves little of the machines capabilities.

xepathfinder, good point. I have raced greg for fun, but I dont even like to ride fast. I guess I dont see why everyone gets so excited about this topic.

I guess its nice to be able to say you have the fastest 4x4 quad. But,in all the total miles we have on our quads, how often do we ride speeds in excess of 25mph?And for how long?I venture to say for the most of us ATVers, not very often.I have 700 miles on my 00 Xplorer, and probably 100 of them miles are in speeds of 25mph or more.I would rather have my quad better suited for mud/snow than top end speed. It still has a great top end,but I dont get the chance to see it to often,
Bill
