Belt deflection
#11
If you have that much deflection and the belt is out of the secondary I'd be looking at engine mounts. Check the distance between the center of both clutches, normally about 10" You may have to slide the engine forward to get the belt tight but check those mounts first......

Ok I think I have found my problem the belt is suppose to be 40.875" + or - 3/16" my Dayco belt is 41.125" My old factory belt is 40.875" right on the money so I put it back on and it has very little deflection but is ***** out. So how did my Dayco belt stretch or could it have come that way when I bought it new. What should I do buy another belt and try it? I have a big ride this Memorial day weekend and would like to have it going.

If the Dayco belt was initially tight when you installed it and it stretched that much in 200 miles I don't think I'd buy another one. Are you sure it is the right belt? You might have to go back to an oem Polaris belt...

I'm not for sure if the Dayco belt was tight or loose I never checked it. I was looking on ebay where I bought mine and My part number is HP2004 for the 700 and that what number my belt has. The part number for the 500 is HP2002 and has a length of 40.875 and that what my manual say my belt length needs to be. I could not find the length of the Dayco belt for the 700.

Oh yea I talk to a parts guy at my dealer and asked him about the limited lifetime belt replacement and he said he had never heard of it. I was like you got to be kidding and told him about how other fourm members said you are limited to one. After that he contacted me to a guy in service and he pretty much told me it would be very hard to get it warranted. This SUCKS

Well I decided I'm going to try and take my old belt back it don't have any burnt spots and it isn't shredded so I think it should be covered. I guess if they don't cover it I will just have to make an a$$ of myself in front of some people .

SPORTSMAN70003,
As I have read in some other posts the Dayco and Dayton belts are no good even though they probably make a belt for a Polaris. Your best bet is to get he Maintenance kit that comes with a belt, clutch cover seal, 2 qts of oil and a filter, I think my dealer charges 59.99. Thi is item is on my shopping list for my next visit to the dealer....

Well I never took my belt back instead I ordered another Dayco belt from advance auto parts for $34.99 I picked it up about an hour ago. I measured the Dayco and it was the same lenth as my factory polaris belt. I don't know if the old Dayco belt stretched or was to long to begin with. I know the new Dayco has a few different numbers than the old one. If this one stretches I will go back to polaris belts.
