Predator/TRX450R Jumpabality/Frequent-Flyer-time manners ?

Ok..
Getting ready to pull the trigger on the purchase of either the 05 Predator TLD or 04 TRX450R. Im most concerned with ....
1) Handling..
2) Jumpabality..
I will be riding in the mountains/foothills & sand dunes in my area. I want a bike that flys stable in the air when jumping, and handles big landings well... Not interested in motocross. I have a bike for that.
TRX450R
( Love the ergonomics, low weight, Honda quality, divided motor/tranny oil supplies and abality the wheel the bike easily)
Predator TLD
( Love the standard equipment braided lines/foxshocks/wheels/tires and the close ratio tranny. Also like the smooth touqrey powerband for my type of riding. Also like the value seems to be more bang for the buck.)
Question
Does the Predator feel heavy in the air? Im not real concerned about the weight difference, if it still feels good when hucking it over a gap...for instance.
Im sure that either bike would suit my purposes just fine, and be an awsome ride. Just trying to get some feedback, before I sign on the line.
Looking for some input from some experienced riders/owners Plz. Thank you all for your time..

I have both....The front end of the 450R is very light, but it is very smooth in the air. I like the Predator for its width but you can feel the extra weight in the air. Good luck w/ your choice.

ThankU Predfan.. Not having ridden either bike, its hard to decide sometimes. your feedback helps.
Im going to have a look at both again before I buy.
One of my local dealers has an ... 04TRX450R that hes trying to move at .. 5999.00 + tax. Very tempted.

Even with the weight difference I have been very impressed with how the Pred jumps. I have seen them get some wicked air. I think both are a great choice but if you do alot of trail riding I would get the one with reverse.

will do peterlocal22...
looks like im leaning towards the Predator TLD though. I live in the foothills , Hence almost everywhere that I trail ride around here involves a hill climb of some degree. Anyways im now starting to think that a nice wide/stable/planted bike might suit my conditions a little better..
I'll be sure to post pics as soon as I pick up my bike, sometime in the middle of this month... Cant wait.

I purchased an '05 Predator LE about two weeks ago & have mixed feelings about recommending one to friends.
I bought it because my brother has an '03 he bought used & I was very impressed with the overall ride & jumping capabilities
of it. My '05 LE has the Fox Podium shocks & the suspension is way betterthan the '03 & '04 models. It does not feel heavy in
the air at all & landings are usually straight & smooth.
The only problems I've had so far- reverse **** broken & front chain guide seems to be poor design. The chain guide is already worn thru. Also, due to it's wide & light front end, it has a tendency to push when riding wide open on fast, loose terrain. I recommend a steering dampner to slow the front steering down.
My last quad was a '01 Banshee, & it's going to take awhile getting used to the Predator-it's so different in power delivery & ride .

Thanks 2crazytocare... sorry to hear about the **** & chain guide. I'll be sure to take a close look at both of these items when I next go to the dealership.
I know that with bikes, you can buy aftermarket chain guides that are made out of a tough plastic material type of stuff, that seems to wear less that the crap that often comes from the factory. Im assuming that someone will eventually make a guide for the new predators, before too long, that would offer better wear.
I have palnned on getting the GPS steering damper for sure. I'll need it for some of the rocky areas around here....
