DG Exhaust any good?
#11
I had the HSP speed kit and it was good but it was extreemly loud and had a very high engagment. I changed to a Dynoport and it is the best pipe I have found for a 400 L it has smooth power from start to top with stock clutching. It is more of a low to mid pipe but the topend isnt that much less than the HSP.

I need an exhaust that isnt loud though and have a spark arestor. The places I ride can and do check for this and its not worth the 500 for not having it. I agree acceleration is way more important than top speed. i still havent even got my pred to 4th gear yet.
Anyone know if AAEN is loud? and there performance looks good.

I have personal experience with AAEN, HPD, and HSP Trail pipes. They are all very good products and in my opinion very Equal to one another.
As far as the pipes go, The AAEN pipe is the loudest, or should I say "TINGEEEST". Best word I could think of. Bottom line I believe it is made with a thinner material.
The HPD trail pipe has good fit and finish (Nickle pipe). I am running a complete HPD trail kit (pipe and clutching) but I am running the factory silencer (For noise reasons) I am guessing you are going to the Mounds.
I also own an Hot Seat (HSP) pipe, Fit and finish is fair(A friend of mine has a chrome one that looks great), Power is about the same as the other two. The main advantage to the HSP pipe is that it is slightly adjustable for more Low or top end power buy adding shims to the collector at the exhaust flange. (Not much change but some).
You can run the factory Silencer on any of these Trail pipes. I have done it, you would have no troubles (sacrafices are minimal). I also run a FMF turbune core II. This silencer is nice when freshy packed, but does get loud. My understanding is that the HPD MTQ silenser and the NEW Hot Seat Silencer are the best for noise redution.
I am finding that I would like to get a Drag pipe (CPI or HPD). These pipes will make the most power if you are going to want big power. All depends what direction you plan to go.
Note: If you have any questions or need help let me know, we are close if you are in Roseville.
I am in Warren (14&Hayes) . I am not using the Hot Seat pipe so maybe we can work something out. I have everything to make the pipe work for you (Jetting and Clutching). Quality or performance is not the reason I am not using it. I originaly had the HSP pipe on. I bought a HPD Nicle pipe to replace it. I just wanted a nickle pipe and thought I would try the HPD unit because everybody says they are better, no difference in pperformance if you ask me. Like I said I like the HSP pipe because eof the adjustability. JMPO

I am near 11 and hayes. I am sure we could work something out on the hot seat pipe kit. Give me a call or PM me and we can work something out. I will pm you. I have been to the mounds and didnt care for it really. For an hour and half ride your better off driving another hour and going to gladwin or leoto or mio or st helen etc.. but silver lake checks and I really want to go there this year.

yes Siver lake does Random checks but, you can work that system. Just wait for a few people to be lined up for a check and they will wave you right on through. You MUST be spark Arrested.
I have to agree with you on the Mounds, we have a house in Hale, Mi. That is where I do 75% of my riding.
I am 10mins from the South Branch Bull gap trailhead.
