Default I bought a Honda!!!!!

thanks all, I have ridden/owned bikes in the past but this will be my first sport bike. I am a wild guy in the dirt on the quad and enjoy pushing the atv to the limit but on a sport bike and especially now days I am not looking to do stoppies or wheelies, I just want to cruise around and ride the bike to work. I am comfortable with my skills but it's the guys/gals behind the steering wheels that you've got to watch out for because they don't always see you while they are talking on their cell phones and putting makeup on. I plan on being a conservative rider because as much as I enjoy riding and pushing myself to the limits it's just not worth doing stupid stuff and getting killed or injured over. I went this morning to get the insurance settled, wow $1125 for a full year of full coverage. next year will be better when I turn 25, yes I am only 24 years old so I am a youngin to most of you guys/gals. I have wanted a sport bike since I was like 10 watching all the motorcycle racing on television along with seeing bikes go by on the road, I was building my 1973 Harley XLH but due to work and other stuff at home I just didn't have the time to finish it let alone sink more cash into it and I was kicking myself in the behind also because at heart I knew I really wanted a sport bike so I sold the Harley the Friday before Memorial weekend and paid my charge card off. I have stellar credit it's just my debt ratio is out of wack because I have both my 2004 Dodge Ram, the 2003 SLP Monte Carlo and both ATV's going through the credit union and in my name. I had to put the new CBR on the Honda card but turned out ok because they have either 3.9% for one year with minimum $39 payments or 6.9% for two years with minimum $69 payments. I'll do the 6.9% for two years then transfer the payments to my credit union when I get my Debt ration down lower, hopefully after my piece of crap Dodge Ram gets bought back. I have a lemon law attorney working on that one, waiting for Daimler Chrysler to decide whether they want to buy it back outright or take it to court. wish me luck.

If you switch your car over to State Farm you can add your bike to the policy. Assuming you have a good record you will be half of what your paying now. For example I went from progessive at 1600 a year for the r1 to 470 a year full coverage after transfering my truck over. My truck was 100 bucks more than I was paying put overall I save a grand a year. Hope this helps.

Nice choice.
The honda superbikes are second to none. One of these days when my wife let's me I'll get a 1000rr used to ride a gsxr 750 but that was before the wife and kids. As others have suggested always wear your helmet even if your not doing anything stupid. My co-worker and her husband were out riding last weekend and some old lady pulled out right in front of them her husband had to lay the bike down and they both got scraped up on their arms but the boots saved their legs and the helmets saved their lives. Bike is pretty torn up. They don't fare well when they slide into cars.

Hey ftwflh,

I hear ya buddy. My first new street bike was a 1984 Honda V45 magna. I think that it had under 1,000 miles when it started "tapping". I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the cam free of charge. I would say that the 1984 & 1985 V45 & V65's are Honda's most shamefull engines, as every single one of them eventually developed the same problem !!

Although the cams were soft out of the factory, the bike turned out to be completely trouble free for over 15 years !!!

In my humble and worthless opinion, I truly believe that Honda has THE very best motorcycles on the planet, but they're ATV technology requires drastic improvements.

After the 3rd set of cams I traded it for a 75 Sportster and $1000 and ended up trading the Sportster on the FLH I have today.Had that bady since 87 and I think I will keeper her.

I got the bike delivered today, I am so happy. I only put like 2 miles on it because it has been raining off and on all day but this saturday it's suppose to be beautiful outside along with sunday so I'll take it to work and ride around town some this weekend. I have to say this bike gets up and goes,

I have pictures posted and you can view them by clicking on the my photos link below.
