Default Trail Boss Update

I have been restoring a 1988 Trail Boss 4X4 with very low hours on it. It has not been used for years. I have everything going good except, most times when I use low range or high range when starting out cold, the engine don't want to rev up and when I stop it appears like the brakes are locked, but that is not the problem. I can't tell if it is in the primary or secondary clutch or if it is the transmission locking up. Someone had this same problem awhile back but I can't find it. What do you think? I am 74 years old and the less I have to disassemble the better I like. Has anyone had this problem?

Buy a service manual, they are invaluable.

Pistolman, thanks for the smart reply. I am so sorry you did not learn to read. So someone can explain it to you, I was asking if anyone had had this problem, perhaps saving me from overhauling something that did not need it, through trial and error. I have a Polaris OEM Manual, but it does not list this problem. With remarks like yours, it degrades the forum. Some will not ask questions because they don't need answers like yours. It would have been a lot nicer if you had said,( I have not had that problem, and I cannot help you.) A persons mouth shows who he is.

I just had to replace my secondary clutch buttons. They are only about $3 each and there are 3 of them. It almost sounds similar to what I was experiencing until I figured it out. You will need the remove the secondary, remove the snap ring (you'll need good snap ring pliers), open it up by removing the helix and look at the buttons. It's really pretty easy but you'll need help dealing with the snap ring particularly when re-installing.

I think it be you the smartass with the quick tounge, old man.
Nowhere in your post did it say anything about having a book on it.
I was merely trying to stress the importance of having a proper manual, as so many people overlook.
Sorry you took it the wrong way.
Alas, maybe it is you who cannot read, it is Pistonman- not Pistolman.
And it is dipwad posts like that that degrade forums, pal. And you have showed to me who you are.
EDIT to add: And it was about to go off page one and I thought I would give you a bump-sorry

Pistonman, I just thought Pistolman fit better. If I was wrong, I am not so high and mighty that I cannot appoligize. I may have been wrong and if so I am sorry and I appoligize.

No, I have not corrected my ATV problem. If anyone can give me any informationm about the problem I will appreciate it. No sarcasm please. If I was as smart as you people are about ATVs I would not be asking for your help. Someone had this problem awhile back but I cannot find if they found the problem or not. I have searched and cannot find the thread. Help if you can.
