I have an 02 700, and my front cv boot is ripped. I did a search on here, and it seems it is mostly the rears that are tearing. Are the gorilla ones a lot better than the polaris ones? How hard are they to replace? What all is going to have to come apart to replace it?

 

I had to change one of the fronts on my 03 it had a very tiny hole in it. Its not to bad to change one the hardest part I think is the clamps on the boot. First jack up the front take the wheel off and unbolt your tierod end and lower ball joint. Next unbolt the axle nut and remove the axle from the hub. Last undo your boot and take the cv joint apart. Replace with a new boot and put it all back together. I have never tried the gorilla boots so I don't know how good they are.

 

The gorilla boots are way more puncture resistant than the Polaris ones. I had one of Gorilla's heavy duty ones put on the rear end for my 02 SP500. They also lowered the prices on their boots, so it is a good time to buy one.

I put the gorilla boots on my 500 4x4. The kit comes with the boot, clamps, and grease. My boot is right behind the front outer hub. I had to order the original Polaris clamps that are low profile to keep the boot on. The ones in the kit were too high and would rip-off in 4 wheel drive when they contacted the hub housing. They will work good for you.

 

If you are going to go with a polaris boot, the boot clamp pliers are well worth however much they cost. To do the clamp, you just squeeze the pliers and it tightens and locks it. Undoes the clamps as well. Does not damage them like needlenose do.
