International Scammers!!!
#1
tonight, my buddy told me about a Harley for sale on AOL classifieds. Its a perfect condition 1997 Heritage Softail for $5000. my friend called the seller, who is mexican that lives in england thats originally from california, and the seller told him that he lives in London England and thats where the bike is. He then proceeded to tell him that he knows hes selling it for way too cheap but due to financial hardships, he has to sell it quick. And he is shipping it for free. The seller told my friend that he needed to send 2500 via western union and put the other 2500 in an escro account. My friend did it!! He sent the 2500 to this guy Monday night. Right after the seller collected the money from western union, he called my friend back and told him that he had just sold the bike and will send his money back to him but will take him approximately 3 weeks for whatever reason. My friend was pissed because he was truely upset that this guy sold the bike out from under him. He was even madder when I told him that he got scammed and he wasnt going to see his money again.
For those of you who dont know about these scams, I'll break it down for you
First you will see something advertised somewhere for dirt cheap, usually the ones I have seen are motorcycles, atv's, classic cars etc etc. Most of the time there is no contact phone number, just email. The items are usually listed somewhere in the united states but after contacting these people, you will find out that the item is over seas somewhere. When you ask the seller why they are selling so cheap, they usually reply with somebody is sick, they lost there job, blah blah blah. You get the idea. every one of these scams that I have seen offer Free Over Seas Shipping because one of there family members works for a major shipping company. Then comes the talk of exchanging money. EVERY situation that I have seen, the seller wants you to send the first half of the money WESTERN UNION and put the rest in an escro account. That way the seller cant get the 2nd half of the money until you receive the item you purchased. The seller (scammer) doesnt actually want the 2nd half of the money, they just want to collect the first half. They say that about the escro account to make you feel better about giving them the first payment. It implies a little bit of trust. It makes the buyer think, "He's not gonna get all the money until I get the bike" Anyway, the next time you see something like this, dont hesitate to email the scammer and act like your interested then bust them down and make them aware that you know its a scam. If enough of us do this, it will affect there scam and make people aware of what is going on. When the scammers find out that there is a lot of people that have noticed there scam they will eventually quit trying to do it and you will have helped save us americans from these internatioinal scammers.
The 2 easiest ways to spot these advertisements are
1. There will be blocks instead of punctuation marks (periods, commas, question marks...........). Language translation programs often do not recognize some punctuation and puts a block or square in its place.
2. The advertisements look like some of the posts we make at 3 in the morning, spelling is pretty good but the words just dont make sense.
Good luck and dont get scammed!!!

I dont care how good a deal is but you NEVER,NEVER send money western union to anyone expecially over seas. Anyone that asks for western union is a rip off. My wife would have my ball$ if I ever did that. Also it would cost a few grand to ship something like that over seas and through customs. Thats to bad it happend. Remember if it looks to good to be true then it usually is!

I was ready to buy it until I got the following e-mail
Hi ,
Thank you for your interest in my quad. The purchase price is $2,000 US (including the shipping and insurance charges). We have recently opened a small business in Stockholm , Sweden and we moved here. We found out that we cannot register the quad here, because it is an US model (which complies with the US emission ) and Europe regulations are different from these ones. Also we didn't pay the duties for bringing it here and if we resell it back to US/Canada there will be no more duties to be paid. Now we have our money stuck with this vehicle, so the low price is for a fast cash deal.
The quad is like new in perfect running condition, low miles with no hidden damages or accidents. It has always been garage kept. Being an US model, you won’t have any problem with its registration in your state. It will be as if purchased locally. It will be shipped via air freight to the nearest international airport from your area and from there with ground freight to your door. The title is CLEAN and CLEAR and you will receive all the proper documents in the same shipment. I will send the ietm as a gift or donation for you, so you won't have to pay any additional taxes. It will come with all the necessary papers. The shipping and insurance charges will be down to me and you will pay the fees for transferring the money (about 5% of the total amount). My wife works for the carrier and she will help me out with the shipment (as part of her job benefits).
I am requesting full secure payment. If you are not 100% satisfied with this vehicle, you will ship it back on my expense and you will receive your entire payment back. I am sure this will not happen, because it is a state of the art vehicle and you will have no reason to reject it. My experience in the sale business proved to me that quality is the key element to have a successful business. Good faith and passion for winning has always been my top priority and my most valued business approach. This is why I chose to be affiliated at eBay Square Trade. I have with them a purchase protection account for $10,000 US. This money is for refunding my customers in case they are not satisfied with my selling activity. Using a third party, you will be 100% secure that you will receive your vehicle after making the deposit through Square Trade. I will be 100% secure that I will receive the payment after you will receive and inspect the vehicle. If you are not satisfied with the vehicle or you find it not being as advertised, you can reject it and you will receive your entire payment back. It's the best solution for an international purchase, don't you agree?
If you agree with these terms, please get back to me ASAP.
Thanks
Mark.
