Default solid state relay 700 EFI smoked

another short in the electrical system. was out riding in deepwater this weekend with some new buddies and was going in some water and some mud. got into some deep water and got some water in my airfilter. we stopped and drained the water and dried the filter and shortly after starting again, it just died on the trail. pushed it down out of the way and waited a few minutes and started up and ran. ran it like that for a little while and it died a few more times, and when it would died, it died just like it had no power to the fuel pump. had power to the pod, just stopped the machine and started it up and it ran. when back to the trailer for lunch and cleaned the airfilter started up went out riding and not after a 1/2 half hour it died and small puffs of white smoke from the grounds at the cornor of the relay and it started to fry the relay. disconnected the battery and it stopped. but now i have a cooked relay. i have taken it out and am planning on contacting the dealer. i am wondering......
1) can i get one from the dealer and install it myself and not worry about having it put on the diagnostic.
2) should i have the dealer run the diagnostic and find out what they find.
3) this is the second major electircal problem i had with my machine, do i have a lemon.
4) could the water i got in the machine have had any effect on what happened.

has this happened to anyone or had anyone ever heard of this happening. this sucks. the first year i put 756 miles on it no problems. this winter had an electical problem with the wires that run into the bottom of the 4 fuse box. i am sorry to cry in my beer, but i love my machine and just want to see her running strong and healthy. it let me down. well at least i am being prepared for kids. thanks for any help. dan-o

Did it look like it might have somehow cracked before it started cookin or is it to fried to tell. It looked pretty fried on the trail. Take it up to Van Wall and BS with Aaron hes the younger stocky salesman he might be able to answer most of your questions, he used to be their best mechanic.

so i went to a local dealer in olathe kansas and asked to talk to their tech guy. the response was he is busy. i just have a few questions, i stated. let me check, nope he is swamped. they then said the part is 90 bucks and they would have to order it. i expected that....i walked out and called my dealer at home and the tech there stopped what he was doing and talked to me for 25 minutes. he pulled the same part up and said that it was 90 dollars but it was superseeded. superseeded means that it was replaced already with a new part because they obviously had problems with the old one. jason, the tech, then says let me talk to polaris and i will get them to warrianty that part and will ship it out to you. now that is what i like to hear from a dealer. i love monroe powersports in britton michigan, a shameless plug, but when they do stuff like that you have to do something for them.

I'm glad you were able to get the problem fixed. I always talk to Aaron in sales he has always taken good care of me and Mark. I guess you get better service when you buy all your bikes and mods there. I still have to go up and order those rubber washer things for my rear suspension. I'll be ready fir the next trip. What is your ETA on getting yours up and running? It would be great to have you along for the next ride. We're still thinking St. Joe State park leaving friday night July 8 - July 10.
