Default Excessive Gas Venting on 2003 Trailboss

Has anyone ever encountered this before with a Polaris Quad? It seems as though the fuel tank heats up during use and causes what seems to be excessive venting/dripping from the tank vent line. Any ideas or solutions out there?

I think the cap should vent the pressure. Maybe you need a new cap. I'm not sure if the cap just vents one way or not.

I don't think this cap vents at all. I am not sure it is designed to.

My Trail Boss 250CC leaks fuel from the carb bowl vent at idle. It does not leak above idle when the engine is running smooth. My TB vibrates real bad at idle. Is this normal or should it be smooth at idle like it is when I rev the engine higher?

My scrammy vibrates like I put a quarter in the bed at the motel when it is at idle.

My dealer suggested make a "heat shield" under the tank to keepo the heat away and recommended going to 89 octane, which is boils off at a slightly higher temp. I will try it and let you know. As far as the vibrations....i just sold a 98 Trail blazer..clutched and piped...it wasn't too bad at idle. Never had any issue with fuel spilling.

Tell your dealer to quit smokin crack, the vent on the Polaris tanks is up high, under the front cab. This vent is one of the small clear tubes up in the top of the steering post. Either the vent is kinked, or you're filling it up too much cold, & when it warms, the fuel expands & vents out.

The excessive venting occurs after riding for a long period of time in warm conditions- regardless of how full the tank is. What is happening is that the tank is heated up by the motor, the gas naturally wants to expand and vents, while venting the fuel condensates int he line and drips out. I checked the line there is no kinking or blockages. Seems about the only option to remove the heat from the tank to stop the venting.

You have to take the plastic off the tank to get to where the vent line is. It's on the top side of the tank. Mine vibrates at idle pretty good too. Maybe that's why the lady next door asks if she can ride it.
