I'm thingking about buying a new 2001 TB in April and was just wondering what kind of mods I could get done. How fast could I get it going with a high performence pipe?

You will be lucky to get 5 mph out of the top. The main area of performance will be in the low-mid range. Putting a good, quality pipe on it, plus tweaking the clutch a bit, will do wonders for the TrailBlazer. It will make it into a different bike all around.
