I took the 4 wheeler out today and rode with 2 guys from my work.
We went down to Bountiful and headed up into the mountains. What a fun
ride it was. There is snow all over the Wasatch Front today and it was
colder than a well diggers foot.
We got clear up on top (about 9000ft) and rode in the snow...brrrr.
The wind was really blowing hard so we didn't spend a lot of time up
there because our hands were freezing...good place to die, too, if
one wasn't careful.
We rode this same trail where I had my quad tip over, with me under
it, a few months back. There is a big rock on the trail at a hair pin
turn that is on a steep decent. The dirt is washed out on one side of
this rock and it's easy for your tire to fall into the hole and tip
your bike over, which is what happened to me last time we rode up
there.
Going up the trail is easy because you have speed on your side to
combat gravity, but going down you aren't so fortunate.
This time I decided that I wasn't going to fall pray to the old rock
trick so I just drove over it a little to the left and let the bike
fall back down to the trail...plunk! No problem, worked like a charm.
I was in the lead, by the way, and these 2 guys behind me saw what I
did and decided that it looked better than the alternative because
they were with me the last time the rock taught me who was boss..."Who
run Rock Town? Rock run Rock Town, that who..." Anyway, the first guy
drives his bike in an identical manner except he decides he wants to
go just a bit slower because he doesn't like the steep drop back to
the trail. Well, as you can imagine as soon as his front wheel drops
off his handlebars twist and he rolls his bike onto the trail
with him underneath it...hahaha! Sucker! I said no brakes! Now look at
you!
The guy behind him is his brother, and the owner of both bikes...He
is following right behind and does a panic stop so he doesn't drive
over his younger sibling, and his other bike. When he hits the brakes
he veres off the trail and hits another rock that dents the crap out
of his front wheel, and hits a sharp stick that punctures the same
tire that the bent wheel is on...hahahahahaha!
I looked over and saw the Rock smiling at me...another victim
sacrificed to the Rock God.

Barrel o' laughs.

Know any more personal injury and property damage stories?

Maybe next time, you can sucker 'em over a cliff or something. If you're smart enough to lead 'em into a difficult area without warning them of the hazard, then ride through it yourself unscathed while they get hurt and damage their equipment, you probably can.

Thanks for sharing.

Diogenes,
I didn't mean to sound heartless and cruel but these two knew the area as well as I did. In fact they were the ones who pulled my quad off of me the last time we rode on this trail. I got caught in between the washed out area of the down hill side of the rock and my 325 Mag 4x4 front fender that had me pinned against the rock. I was holding the brakes so as not to let my quad roll down hill and not tear my leg up. Believe me, they both couldn't wait to get to work and tell everybody about my time with the rock, so it was only fair they had their turn, too.
The one guy who rolled wasn't hurt...well, nothing but his pride, a new back rack, a new brake handle and maybe new handlebars.
He knew what he was supposed to do, but he just didn't listen and payed the price. It was one of those areas that are easy to go over as long as you let the bike go and stay off the brakes until you reach solid level ground. He just didn't like the speed and the drop off so he thought he could use his brakes...I told him not to; shoot, his brother made it with a flat front tire!
...Actually, you know what it was? I was on a Polaris and they were on Kawasaki Prairie 300's...Hahaha, now that's funny.
You know I'm just kidding all you Kawie lovers.

Now I get it. Thanks.

What a scream. Imagine rolling a quad over on top of its rider, bending a rim and puncturing a tire. Nothing much funnier happens out on the trail. Can't stop laughing.

Hey Z,
Don't sweat the remarks of the few with no sense of humor. I'm sure we've all had a laugh at a friend's expense as they have also laughed at us. Most of us can understand the situation and appreciate the humor in it. Ride on brother.

AK,
Thanks, that was the way I meant it to be, humorous...
These two are my good friends and I wouldn't want to see them hurt in any way, so I was happy to see that they weren't. They are both experienced riders so they weren't blinded by the situation like Dio thinks, either, and as far as busting up their equipment, eh, they can afford to fix it.(gotta pay if you're gonna play) They weren't complaining...
It was just one of those situations that was funny and we all had a good laugh. We were out riding, doing what we love and loving life, and laughing at misfourtune is something we, as friends, like to do...gotta have a sense of humor, though. Why whine about it? Might as well laugh and enjoy what this life has to offer. We were alive to tell the tale and ride another day, and isn't that what it's all about?
We ride to live and laugh not to stay on the porch and whine about what might have been; I'll leave that for people who need to go change their Dio-pers...

You convinced me. Of course I see the humor now. Flipped quad, flat tire. What a hoot. Like you said, "hahahahahahaha!"

Even if I didn't think off-road accidents were funny, you can and do. If you're comfortable making fun of and laughing at the misfortune of others (the "dummies"), doesn't matter what I think. Maybe not everyone has a sense of humor as mature as yours.
