Folks I have 2 sportsman' 500's. Have had problems with both. Do you think a 700 would be more reliable than the "proven"500's? Thanks.

I forgot to mention I put at least 2500 miles on 1 a year. Maybe I need to go with Honda since they are # 1 in dependability. I'm not trying to be smart just exploring some options. I can't keep putting 200 to 300. in repairs every couple of months.

depends on how well you take care of it. your bound to have problems if you run everything in sight down and do lots of riding in water

I wash mine after each ride and don't abuse it. I ride in some mud but not any more than the next guy. The 500 just seems to have a bunch of problems. I noticed they changed a few things on the 05 so maybe the 04 had issue's??

ya you may have just gotten one of the lemons. a honda is aways dependable but they just dont quite stack up to the polaris in my opinion

I beat the crap out of my 400, I don't wash it and do the least amount of maintenance possible. No major problems with maintenance. I assume that by changing engine size you are having problems with the motor, I have had none to date. The 400 and 500 are very similar engines, so maybe you got some lemons? I don't know. All three of my polaris's are dependable and cheap to maintain.

That may not help much, but its my 2 cents.

Yes, i abuse my 400 too, I pull my 3500 pound detail trailer around with my 400 (around the yard) and it doesnt care, I do donuts all the time and drive it hard and it loves it and i have had not 1 problem with it unlike my other bikes so i can amagine NHarrison2 that you just got a lemmon because my 500 is just fine and i dont have any problems with it very offten because polaris is pretty relible if you take care of them.

What kind of problems? I am not gonna go into the reliablity arguement, but I beleive Polaris is just as reliable as any other manu. out there. I have 3 and sure I have had some things I had to replace, but if you ride em hard, or ride em at all....things wear out.

500 better all around imo. Depending on what probs your having and whats being done to address it Honda may be the way to go. Lame ride though.
