deep water with 800
#1
Just wondering I was told by someone that the 800 SP is not as good as the 700 SP in deep water, like to the racks deep. This does not make any sence to me except that the 800 has the dual exhaust, the motor is just bigger version and they seem to share almost everything else except for the belt and rad system.
Can anyone comment on this, is there a problem going into deep water with a 800 SP ?

as far as deep water goes, I cant say much about the 800 because I have no experince with it, but I have had our 700 probably 5 or 6 inchs below getting my but wet....and it is fine...take that for what it is worth

Complete bs, the two systems are the same, component placement & all.

So's the engine, the point was the water intrusion on both bikes being different, never said the clutch's were the same. By systems I ment electrical & air intake.

From what I've always understood the 2004/2005, 500 to the 800 all have the same Air Intakes for the Belt and Motor right? So they should be able to go in the same places right without getting water or debris in anywhere.
Thanks

Polaris did change the air intake snorkel design on the 800 which puts it more forward of the fuel tank.
I guess their theory is if your front is higher than your rear it's less likely to pick up water or what have you.

Total bs......I have had my 800 in deep water, 2 inchs from the top of the gas tank it has never even sputtered let alone cut out. I ride with 2 friends who have the 660 grizz & I have to wait all the time for them to drain the belt covers, I have had to drain mine once. We ride in mud and water all the time & beat the **** out of them!! The 2 660's have both had to replace seals in the front diff & the other also had to replace a cv joint, also both 660's hads to have the bearrings replaced in the clutch's.....So far nothing but flat tires on the 800!! They also have problems in water with spitting & sputtering & stalling. I have to say my 03-330Mag (traded for the 800) would do the same thing, but the 800 never has. Is this the EFI that makes it more effective in water? I don't know for sure but it's the only thing I can think of.
