when the quad is idling it doesnt do it, but when you give it gas, a loud ticking, hitting sort of noise from i think inside the recoil start. do all the quads do this or is something wrong? it sort of sounds like its a noise from vibratiion.

 

does it sound like a buzzing noise?like a bad vibration somewhere?mine does that curious also what it could be.bumping this up for ya bro.

yup, it doesnt do it at a idle, but when you give it gas, it starts. sometimes it gets pretty loud to.

 

yep exactly!!I just put a hpd trail pipe on mine and can't hear it anymore lol.still wonder what it is. hey just niced that yours is a 500. mines a 400 might be in the pull start or something similar.

well, i think the pull start still works. ive only tired it once when i got it a month ago. anyone else have any ideas or has anyone else have this happen?

Just thought I would bring this post back because mine does the same thing. It is a 06 500efi with about 140miles on it. It sounds like it is normal though. Does anybody else have any input on this?

does it happen in both warm and cold weather? what kind of recoil does Polaris use? could be the nature of the recoil itself. is it possible to take off the recoil cover to investigate the noise? perhaps there is debris in the housing...
