Took my '04 Sportsman 400 out for its first real ride (about 50 miles), went throught a little mud and a little water, no big deal. By the time I got back to camp the display was flashing "Engine Hot" and the fan wouldn't shut off, well, the fan did finally shut off when the battery ran out of juice. Ran it over to the dealer, he said the ECM crapped out, I'm thinking great!! 100 miles and this machine has dying parts already. They replaced the part (no charge, warranty work) and sent me on my way like they see this happen all the time. I'm just wondering what happens when the warranty runs out, how big of a bite out of my pocket will a new ECM be. Oh well, had a great time riding and look forward to many more. I saw online that the 2004.5 and the 2005 had a recall buy my VIN didn't match any that were listed in the recall.
