Let me get some opinions. I have a sportsman 700 but i dont have any ramps to load it into my truck so do you think that a couple of 2x12 cut 6ft long would hold up? Thanks

I use two 2x10's with the aluminum ramp ends. Just dont get pressure treated, they tend to be slippery.

my700 and others:
I have an older model Sportman ('00) that fits in the back of my shortbed Silverado perfectly. I built a spacer to put between the front tires and the front of the bed so I don't go through my rear window.

Now to the question:
Do those new Sportsman '04 and up fit in the back of a shortbed (6'6')? And can the tailgate close? I don't know if I've ever seen one in the back of a shortbed pick-up. They are usually on trailers. What's your experience?

Hey,
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 short bed (6'3"). My 05 Sportsman will fit in the bed with the tailgate closed, if I drive it onto a set of car ramps in the bed of the truck and I deflate all four tires on the polaris to about half full. Now, I understand you have an extra 3", so maybe you can adjust the deflation of the tires accordingly.

I thought the specs on those Sportsman's had them rated at 83" in long? You're telling me that it fits in your 6'3' (tires partially deflated) bed?

Hehe ive used wood planks before, heck i keep em around for when stuck in ma 4x4's. Might get some of that nonslip gravel like sticky paper for em. Last thing you want to do is slide it right off the side, tires make the difference there. Plus with you cutting em to the size you want you can make em a little longer than normal ramps. 12 foot might be a little long to have to carry around with yea, dunno of your situation. But thaz just stuff to think on. G'day.

According to the polaris website, the sportsman is 6' 9" which is probably plastic to plastic, Thats why I use the ramps, to pick the plastic bumper over the front lip of the bed, I still havent tryed since I just put the winch on, As the fairlead now protrudes a further couple inches. Maybe it will fit, if I open the rear window.
