Hey Bionic,
The thing I don't get is the 04 700 EFI's aren't having any issue's really, and the 800 is the same tried and true technology right, just 800 is a bigger motor, of course there are Lemons and there are people who totally abuse there machines and when something goes wrong they don't tell ya where and what they did with it.
I'm just wondering as I've heard 80-90% good about Polaris's EFI, heck its BOSCH, and that is what Chev and Ford use too.
The new 800 Bomb doesn't seem that its going to be that good either, guy on highlifter, had a major problem with the A Arms I think says there aluminum and bend easy, rolled the machine and is taking BOmb to court from what I've read.

I don't know what to tell ya man. I did'nt design it , I just bought it....Look..No-one wants to spend over 9 grand and feel like he was a sucker for doing so. Believe me, I had hopes of loving this thing for years and ranting and raving about how great it was, as I did the first couple of weeks I owned it. When someone else spends the same and sees you here bashing it, they naturally want to defend it. No one wants to feel like a chump for spending more than anyone else on a Quad that does'nt hold up. All the BS and jabs at each other aside, these are the facts. It did not hold up. It has had drivetrain parts falling off. Only a blind Moron could read the list of problems this thing has had and still defend it. Believe me, I'd like to, but the poor sucker researching a purchase on this rig deserves to know.
If you have not had problems Great, don't hold your breath waiting for one, Just ride and state that you love it if you want.I have had probs and will let potential buyers know about it when I can. Polaris gave me more than enough motovation by leaving me to stand alone with this rigs problems.My2c

Damn I hate to brake it to ya Bionic sweet heart but these 2 things I mentioned are on 2 different quads an 700 2004 with 6200 miles on it(tranny seal) and the 800 has 4100 miles on it that belongs to the park service here....if this is what you call unreliability you must deffinitley live in a perfect world but I wouldnt expect anything less form an polaris basher like yourself and by the way I wouldnt wanna be in any club your in...some of us look for sollutions on here you look for a reason to rant....

I can totally understand where your coming from Bionic,
A buddy of mine has a 03 700 twin, starter locked up, had to be towed home in the winter, 2nd motor blew after 3400 miles, but they were known to have problems. Bike was 2.5 years old, so warranty was way done, well dealer went to bat for him and had motor redone from top to bottom for FREE, he didn't pay a thing. I think from my experience it is HUGELY the dealer who can keep you with a company.
Another example for me is I have a 02 Traxter XT, came with a 3 year bumper to bumper, bro inlaw bought one after he heard about the warranty, well his dealer told him there were fine lines in the warranty, that it didn't cover everything, when I found this out, I called my dealer and he told me not to worry that if anything went wrong, if he had to he'd put it on someone elses warranty, and even told my bro inlaw to bring his there and he'd take care of him for the 3 Years BUMPER TO BUMPER.
Not to say your bike's not a piece of junk, but if you had a good dealer he'd fight for you and get what needed to be done to keep you happy.
I'm having a issue right now as I'm looking into buying a POL.800 EFI for a second bike and I have found it for 1500.00 cheaper 2.5 hrs away from me, but I don't know the dealer, the one near my house is more expensive but I know he will back me up if I need it.

Are you getting any blink codes when it isn't idling right? Had some problems with mine throwing out codes 41 and 45, which are the air temp sensor and Barometric pressure sensor. Started looking around and saw that the 4 pin connector going to this T-BAP sesor was misrouted and wore through the wires as it went into the plug. Dealer replaced the wiring harness at 1400 miles. After dealer fixed it it has ran good up until a month ago with about 2000 miles on it. When I would start it up sometimes it would idle up to 700 or 800 rpm's and then die. You couldn't keep it going with the throttle it would just sputter, backfire and then die. If you started it a couple more times it would come out of it and run fine. This might happen once out of 20 times you start it. Then I got the codes again 41 and 45. Took it to the dealer and just found out they had to replace the wiring harness again. Dealer said that Polaris didn't put enough wire in the harness and it stretched causing the wires to pull out of the T-BAP sensor. I've got to go up and pick it up today, so hopefully this fixes it.

If your friends are having problems with their efi machines idling and getting codes 41 and 45, I would bet my bottom dollar that it is the wiring harness.
