I noticed some of you have "Airbox Mods" on your machines. Will someone please explain in detail the "Airbox Mod"? I have a 2000 Polaris Scrambler 400 4X4. Also, those with the same machine, was it worth it???

thankz,
darren

I've done the airbox mods, but it was at the same time as installing the entire RCR Stage 1 kit. So I can't tell you how much of the incredible difference is due to the airbox. It consists of
1. Cutting a 1" hole between (but higher than)the 2 exhisting intakes.
2. Cutting a hole or removing the "divider" inside the airbox.
3. Either removing the upper intake boot or cutting it and inserting a pipe with a bigger diameter (splash protection) to allow more flow.
4. Adding a taller UniFilter and using only the outer lid.
You may need to re-jet. I'm not sure. Good luck.

I have done the mod and the difference is very noticable. I can actually feel the motor breathing better. Makes much more power now. I will try to e-mail a picture that someone sent me a while back. He might even respond himself to your post.

Just remember to do the whole mod and not only part. I added the bigger pvc pipe but did not cut a 1" hole between boot and box. Once that hole was cut, the airflow seemed to have doubled. I did not re-jet because I had already done it for the HPD pipe.

Good luck.
