05 Scrambler Arrives !!
#1
Picked it up on Saturday , brought it home , went over everything carefully...........Man I love the feel of it , much more agile and responsive than the 700SP, we aired up the tires to 6 psi and on pavement went 67.3 MPH according to the GPS !.....I'm impressed , love the engine , compared to the twin its got lot's of bottom end torque and strong midrange , wheelies without any pulling on the bars and whould probibly go right over if did'nt lean far enough forward.........I've added the grill headlight protector and a yellow Scrambler bumper ......gunna leave the engine stock till late this fall before I install a turbo on it !

I've read many posts from other members and have a pretty good idea what to expect from those mods anyways
I really love the quad and feel it has all the things that interest me the most , sporty looks , 4x4 , CVT transmission , solid rear axle [better for trails] all in a package that's lighter and easier to handle than the sportsman
It's certianly a performance inspired engine design with its 4 valve SOHC and dry sump oiling system are far superior to the 2 valve pushrod motor twins
EFI may have been a a nice refinement but it's not going to add leaps and bounds of improvement to this already great running engine
Now I think I understand a little better why Polaris has'nt changed anything on them for a while.........they really didn't need to !

Len, you do realize it has the same motor as the Sportsman. I have always said that the Scrambler is the best all around quad. There is room for improvement or a least refinement. Yes the motor is a great performer, but it it is not what I would call a high performance motor. Never the less it is more than adequate for just about every task. Can you imagine what it would be like with some more power and less weight? Well I guess you're gonna find out about the power part huh? A little tip for you, that motor does get stronger after the first several hours so you're gonna like it even more. Keep us posted on what you do with it. If you don't mind posting some dyno numbers if and when you get them.

There's no dispute a 4 valve per cylinder are quite an advantage over the 2 V design [ especially with the turbo ]
We don't need double overhead cams like the preddy cause we dont need to turn it 10,000 rpm
We don't want the preddy's 5 speed manual gearbox either for the turbo , the CVT will do a better job of keeping the turbo loaded
Looking for a quiet smooth 65 hp to start
