I'm gonna stop by tomorrow and sit down with the salesman to make sure he's not gonna pull some BS on me. The reason this is hard is because I didn't go in there looking to get a quad. I was just kickin tires and I asked about the silver Preddy.

Not bad. Here's my question, what problems did the '03 Preds have with the tranny and should that be a concearn? The same dealer also has a new '04 Pred for $4500.

 

Yea the 03 did have some problems with the tranny, i am not sure if you should be concerned or not. But i personally would go for the 04 since you for sure wouldnt have any problems and the prices are so close. good luck on your desicion!

Yea some 03's did have tranny problems, as long as you don't speed shift them you was ok. I have 2 buddy's with 03's and neither one of them have had a problem.

 

I dunno if this is a good deal but i saw an 05 YFZ450 SE brand new for 6,099

 

I have not had any tranny problems with my 03 other than neutral can be a bear to find when it gets warmed up really good. the 04 tranny was changed to fix this problem. the other differences on the 04 are a shorter rear swing arm, different mounting for the rear tail light, and I believe 9 inch rims instead of 10s. other than that everything else is the same.

 

Impulse buys are sometimes the most fun in the end. We stopped by the dealer a few weeks ago to get a bilge pump and walked out with a jet ski. We went to get some bumpers for the jet ski later and walked out with a sportsman. Needless to say, we havent been there in awhile. But both machines are definetly awesome purchases.

 

I heard that the tranny problems of 03 were fixed half way though the 2003 model year. so the tranny was the same as the 04's . only the very frist models of the pred had had these problems. I believe it was april of 2003 they had the problems figured out.also i know of a friend who has a frist model tld predator(build date 10-3-02) and hasn't had a problem at all with his tranny. It all is in the way you up keep it and treat it.
