Default help, my 500 has no pop

My 500sp seems to have no pop. I can still go nearly 60 on it but from a standstill if you gun it, it bogs and takes a second to come out of it, same thing if you are cruising about 20-25 and gun it. I had been noticing this on a small scale and thought my belt might be getting worn and wasn't engaging, but that shouldn't make it bog should it? Then I tried gunning the throttle while in neutral and is doing it then some too.

What do you guys think? Hope it is someting simple like a fuel filter or something like that because I am not very mechanically inclined at all. thanks for any ideas.

Dirty air filter??? Check & clean or replace it. The fuel filter would be another logical choice.

thanks catman,

I had just cleaned the air filter recently but still checked it. even took it out and ran it without and still had the same
problem, so I think fuel filter will be next check.

Could be a clogged pilot jet.

You may also want to drain the carburetor float bowl. There may be some water in there.
