Default scrambler cracked casing

i went to look at a 1997 polaris scrambler that i was interested in buying , its in good shape all except for the pull start casing has a small hole in it, i dont know how the whole got there, but when i look in the whole i can see a gear, i believe its the flywheel but im not sure, i was just wondering if something fell into this whole would it travel though the rest of the bottom end of the motor or is this section seperate? need a response asap

its seperate, behind the recoil housing is the flywheel and the stator.nothing will get into the lower end of the motor if something was to fall into the hole but you still dont want anything falling into it seeing *** the flywheel weights and the stator would probably get damaged..
