Default Bad weekend in Waynoka

I just had to vent my troubles to you guys. I unloaded Friday night at the little sahara and didnt get much riding in before I blew the base gasket on my Sport 400. Needless to say parts for most Polaris machines are never in stock unless there is a motorsports store that deals Polaris machines nearby. Well I spent the rest of the weekend drinking lots of beer and riding my brother 400ex, which isnt near the machine that my Polaris is.

Sorry to here that. For reference next time there is a Polaris in Seiling about 15 miles west of Waynoka. I had to run there a couple of times for parts. I haven't been there for a couple of years so you might check to see if they are still open before you run there but they are close.

Nope I dont think that I am going to Sandfest. I think I have to work. I will probably start the rebuild process on my 400. I couldnt see the point of tearing it down just to replace the gasket, so I decided to get my porting done right away while the jug was off. I have been wondering if I need to beef up the transmission any to hold the porting or will it be alright. Of course I need to have a girdle kit for it but is there anything else that needs to be done??
I did not know that there was a Polaris dealer that close to Waynoka. Thanks Pennyless I will check into that for next time I have problems. As for gaskets I think I will not go there again without spare gaskets.

The only other thing you might consider is a case saver.

Go to Seiling to Sanders Sporting Goods they mite be able to order your gasket. There a polaris dealer there about maybe 25miles south of little sahara on 281 hiway and if they cant have it time you could go to enid to rainbow sports. you can get there if you go south from little sahara about 8 miles and take hiway 412 east its about an hour drive.

Yeah, I think pretty much everything except porting. I dont remember how stock ran, dont really want to either i guess. But with the FMF pipe on and then going to the CPI there was a huge difference. There was some loss on the low end but the top end gain definitely made up for that. When it is running decent I will be in front of pretty mch all the 400ex's and about the middle of the pack of the Banshee's. I say decent cause I had just put on the Keihin 39 carb and didnt have it tuned that good. I dont think it is going to be put back together without porting though. I am wondering how much of a difference it would be from running pump fuel with a race port as opposed to running race fuel with the race port?? Like night and day or just noticeable? Any of you guys running race fuel, did you switch from pump or just go straight to the race fuel?

Well I have the Race Port with a pump gas dome. It runs way better than my Trail mod ever did. The power gain is phenonminal. You wouldn't be disappointed. Just get it ported to CPI's pipe specs and you'll be set. You can either get a cool head from HPD with the girdle built in or you can just cut the stock head and use the Aaen girdel kit. Both work fine. Good luck with the rebuild.
