Default Trail Blazer 250 Driven Clutch button problem

Allright... please help out..

Working on a 250 Trail Blazer.... started running wierd, like something was restricting it,,, so I came on here to find help... someone suggested looking at the buttons in the driven clutch.. sure enough all that was there were the hex head bolts... the buttons were in pieces... so i replaced them, put it back together and it ran fine for a few months...

then it crapped out again, same symptoms... but it was maybe a few weeks later, maybe 4 or 5 riding hours on the quad... ok, so i came back on here, you all suggested looking at the weights, in the drive clutch, they are fine,,, not broken,, move freely... so I take apart the driven clutch again... the buttons were jacked up... like big chuncks busted off them... what gives?? did i put the driven clutch backtoger wrong last time ??? why would the buttons break apart soo fast.... thanks for any information... appriciate it...

Will

If you ride the machine hard, the stock buttons will not last. You must, and I mean must, replace the stock buttons with the HPD billet ones. They are indestructable and only $65. If had had mine for 6 years and I race my machine MX and harescrambles. I don't think anyone here on this forum could abuse their equipment any harder than I do!!LOL!! If I can't break it, it must be good. This fix will definitely fix your problem for good.

What do the ramps on the helix look like (where the buttons ride)? Are they messed up enough to cause accelerated wear on the buttons? The ramps could be out of shape if the buttons were gone and the helix was riding on metal before.

i agree on the hpd button kit,get a set and you wont have any more problems..i was going through a set of stock buttons every few weeks it seemed,i bought the hpd kit and they have been fine for 2 years of hard abuse, probably more abuse than kahnman puts his machine through

Ask anyone who has ridden with me on the trails. As long as I keep the damn thing on the trails, no-one beats their machine harder than I do. Hnads down, no contest. I sbould be a tester for Polaris. LOL!!

Yep you said it there, if you can keep it on the trail......lmao! I will say he is ***** to the wall! After flying off the trail, and going over a cliff and hitting a tree, at Hatfield & McCoys I hope you have slowed down alittle.

xxx riding hard and in rough terrrain will ruin stk. buttons in no time the hpd buttons work great from what I've heard but to fix the proble all together you will want to upgrade to a team roller secondary clutch we have sold 100's of them and have never had to send one of them back. It woul dcost more than the hpd buttons but performance wise the team is much better everywere.

Not really. The Hatfield trip was my first trip on the machine. I did not not it very well. As you could see, I had ridden the 4x4 many times and knew what I could do on it and how it feels and reacts. Since the Hatfield, I have ridden it many more times on the trail and am now comfortable on it. I have even raced MX on it and love it. It is trully a fast machine all around. I have gotten rid of some of my takeoff problem and hope to tinker with it some more this weekend before the next MX race.
