since no one has jumped in and given you their .02 yet i will give you mine...
I personally have no experince with either of them...BUT the magnum has been around longer then the hawkeye so you know all the bugs are worked out of them...so Iw ould get a magnum

My dealer (who’s also a friend) rode a Hawkeye at the dealer show last month and was very impressed. It has no low range but he said it didn’t need it. In the test area he stopped it at the bottom of a hill and stuck his thumb in it. The Hawkeye had no problem grinding its way right up the incline from a stop without low, and Mark probably weights in at about 210. He also said that the engine and the transmission are one unit so there’s no flex in the belt alignment, making it virtually impossible to burn a belt. His impression was this is going to be an excellent entry level quad and he’s ordered a bunch of them.
My understanding is the Hawkeye is a smaller framed machine than the Magnum. You’ll want to ride them both to see which one “fits” you better and feels more comfortable. Also take into consideration your purpose for owning the machine. Is this going to be used for recreational riding or pushing snow or both? If you’re riding recreationally, what kind of terrain will you be on?
The answers to these questions don’t mean anything to me, but they’ll mean a lot to you in deciding which machine is best suited for your needs.

Well it has been nearly a year and I just ran across your inquiry and I would like to know which you decided upon....I have a 2x4 Hawkeye (2006) with 438 miles on it. It is doing an exceptional job up to this point...The only complaint I have with it is the vibration....and my dealer states this is normal...Has plenty of power and I weigh 200 lbs...I cannot ride the larger ones due to arthritis in my hip....It is quite comfortable...I owned a 1997 Trail Boss prior to this and it had no where near the vibration...Well enough said hope you are enjoying yours either way....
