Default rigid rear for da 400

ok fellas, y are people goin with rigid suspensions? my cousin said it was a good idea so i odered a solid piece of 1 inch solid round aluminum to replace da whole rear suspension. im drag racing now so i guess i dont need da suspension nor da extra weight. i heard a rumor that the rear suspension can rob hp. any truth to that?

all replies appreciated

I wouldn't say it robs horse power, but rigid rears tend to cat walk less and have a more consistent launch. The only way I could see a loss would be in the amount of power it takes to make the rear end squat and I wouldn;t think this would be much.

You benefit will be weight. I would just make a solid alluminuim strut to replace the shock.

Another option and something I have been wanting to do is see if I can put a fox float in the back to replace the factory shock. They only weigh 2 pounds
