Default Tried the Bomb 800 today!

My dealer called and let me know that they just recieved 2 new BRP 800's in today, one XT and the other the base model. So I went and took a first hand look at them to see if there as ugly as everyone says they are. Well the 800 is not ugly IMHO and think that it's a nice looking quad. It looked to be well built and designed and looked to be rugged and be able to handle abuse. I fired it up and it sounded awesome with a very nice rumble like it had something under the hood. I wish the SP800 sounded like that. Then I took it for a spin in a very large field. I was told I could do whatever I wanted, but try to keep out of the mud.
This 800 definetly lives up to the hype as far as power goes. This thing just plain ripped and leaving nothing but roost behind me. I got up to 50mph very fast and no flat spot what so ever in the mid range like the SP800. The ride was very simular to the sp800, yet was much sportier and more nimble as I gave it many fast cornering test. Lifted the front end easy, but not to the point that you needed to let off. It kept a nice 6"-8" wheelie and just kept on going I was very impressed with the 800 in the short time I ran it. Compared to the sp800, it will smoke the sp800 and I'm a Polaris fan big time, but this is a fact. Ride they a very even with the nudge going to the sp800. The front shocks on the BRP were a little to soft. 4x4 system I have no idea as I didn't try the bomb. Brakes are even as they both stop on a dime and have stainless steel brake lines. Storage goes to the 800 big time as the BRP only has a small box under the rear rack. So for those who like the sport side of a utility yet enjoy a great ride, the BRP 800 is by far the best, and I've tried them all. If you want a great utility with a great ride, plenty of storage, and a great 4x4 system, then the sp800 would do great. But either one IMHO are top notch atv's and would make any person happy. Now I just have to see if I want to spend $8000

I wouldn't call it selling out. It's just that the bomb 800 fits my needs a bit more then the sp800. Plus now there offering a free 5 year warrenty. That is huge for what I can put a atv through.

Not much of a break in period for that poor atv. From out of the box to rippin roost. I'd hate to be the poor sap that gets that one thinkin that its new.

Sounds like it's todays Grizzly and SP700. My dads '05 Grizzly sounds a lot like the Bomb 800, more nimble and sporty feeling while the 700SP of ours feels sturdier and bigger. Going by that I would say my dad would love the Bomb 800.

I'm pretty sure GE had a KQ and a few other big bore utes before the SP800 anyway, so its not like he was a "polaris now, then and forever" kind of guy. He's the intelligent type who rates atvs based upon their merits and performance not brand loyalty. I think he blew a little too much smoke up our ***** about the KQ but hey thats just me. Once he got some time on the bike its seems as though the bike's true colors showed through.

Thanks for the ride report, the quesiton now is what will we see next year? A displacement bump to actually call the SP an 800 and not a 750? A new base engine? Maybe a new offering from the Yammi crowd? I know honda "updated" the rincon so it'll be years before we see a new big bore ute from them.

Bravo BRP! Every time a manufacture brings out a new machine that’s really good it forces all the others to step up to the plate and we all benefit. Just look how many years the competition has been chasing the Polaris CVT and IRS. Now all the big machines have it standard. I’m a big Polaris fan but I still love to see better machines hit the market no matter who makes them. But I still say, BRP sounds like a compliment to the chef after a big meal.
