2000 Sportsman Speedo malfunction
#1
I just brought home my 2000 Sportsman 500 from the cabin today and noticed my speedometer is not working... I haven't troubleshot it yet but I figured this forum is great to get tech tips on before I start.... 4WD and over ride still work on this machine - Anybody have any helpful hints ??.... Is this common?- This is the first problem I've had with it - I've owned it for going on 4 yrs. now...Thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick reply ! - Is there actually a speedo cable on this ATV ? ..I take it that's what you are talking about " speedo needle quit"..... Would I need to replace the whole cable ?..... If it's the hall effect sensor, where is that located ?.....Do you know how much either part is off hand ?..... Just a ball park figure - Thanks again

The hall effect sensor is located next to the right front wheel. It counts the holes in the rotor and that makes the speedo needle work. The hall effect sensor could be dirty but most likely its bad. I replaced mine a couple months ago and I think its around $45.00 give or take a few dollars.
